- Final score: Indians 9 Blue Jays 8
- Rough outing for rookie Sean Reid-Foley, who struggled with his command all day, walking five batters and getting into a lot of deep counts. He gave up 6 runs today on five hits. I'm still not sold on Reid-Foley, who has struggled against the game's better lineups. Don't be surprised if he starts next year in the minors.
- The rally fell a run short today as the Blue Jays were unable to push the tying run across the plate after Aledmys Diaz doubled with one out in the 9th. It was a valiant effort though as the Blue Jays were down by 5 runs at one point.
- Jonathan Davis came in as a defensive replacement in the 8th and fielded one ball, a single he had no chance to catch. He did not get an at-bat today.
- Dwight Smith Jr. flew out to center fielder Greg Allen for the 2nd out in the 9th. He had a good AB though, fouling off several pitches and making Indians closer Cody Allen work
- Danny Jansen caught the first 8 innings of the game today. He was unable to corral a pitch by Mark Leiter Jr. in the 6th, potentially costing the Blue Jays the game as this was the Indians 9th run, He did hit a double in the bottom of the 7th and scored to get the Blue Jays within 1 so I guess he gets a pass for this game.
- Richard Urena was at second base today. He did fine defensively and had an RBI single and later scored a run.
- Justin Shafer pitched 1/3 of an inning and gave up a bases clearing double and walked 2 batters.
- Mark Leiter Jr. pitched an inning, giving up a run on a wild pitch, walking 2 batters and allowing a hit.
- Taylor Guerreri was the only Blue Jays prospect to throw a clean inning. His funky delivery has been quite effective early on. He has to watch the delivery with runners on base though because he comes dangerously close to throwing balks.
- Up next, the rubber match of the season series. Whoever wins tomorrow will have bragging rights for winning the season series. The pitching match-up will be Indians righty Mike Clevinger against Blue Jays lefty Thomas Pannone.
