I wanted to talk about or jog some memories on John for some time and I'm kinda doing this on the fly so bear with me...

State of the Franchise

Against my better judgement, in an early season moment of weakness, I suggested that I could contribute an article to the site.  Those of you who know me will realize that I shouldn't be doing this, as I have already sworn off all Jays related activities, including watching or listening to games, following along on Gameday, or even so much as checking in for scores.  However, I made a commitment, which I will now reluctantly keep.

It's almost September, and the Jays are right in the thick of it

My feeling towards meaningful September baseball.

With three days left until the waiver deadline passes, it is safe to say that there will likely not be any more roster moves from Shapiro and Atkins. The only obvious upgrade seems to be another left-handed option for Gibbons out of the pen. They have had interest in Boone Logan, who may or may not have been put on revocable waivers. A list of potential August trade candidates can be found here. This is the team we are going to finish the stretch with.

If you don’t remember the week of ecstasy and jubilation that constituted trade season for Blue Jays fans last year, then you don’t need to be told to lower your expectations. If you do remember, then just remember that you can’t just keep adding superstars until you level up and start breathing fire. This year, what the team needed was some solid depth. I don’t mean the kind of depth you put in AAA and pray you’ll never need. I mean the kind of depth you rely on to prevent dumpster fires from breaking out when Josh Donaldson and Troy Tulowitzki both need an off-day at the same time.
