Game #10: Toronto Blue Jays (5-4) @ Texas Rangers (4-6)

Sunday 08 April 2018
3:05PM EDT / Globe Life Park  / Arlington, Texas
Jaime Garcia (LHP 0-0 1.50 7K 1.00) v. Cole Hamels (LHP 1-1 3.38 18K 1.50)

PRE-AMBLE: Today is a new day. Last night was an ugly one for the Jays on a uncharacteristically cold night in Arlington. The Jays only managed 2 hits against a sloppy lefty while their ace Stroman struggled with command all night allowing 5 earned runs in 4.2 innings giving up 6 hits and FIVE walks. It was the first time in Stroman's career that he has thrown more balls than strikes (44 strikes to 51 balls). There are not many positives to take away from the game last night, but the bullpen did come in and do their job pitching 3 scoreless innings. Now I am not one for excuses, especially since both teams are playing in the same conditions,  so I will just say the Texans outplayed us and move on to the next game.

In case you weren't already mad after watching last nights game or reading my pre-amble, here is a gif from the first inning of last night where Odor randomly kicks the air and grabs his filthy crotch towards Stroman. I am not sure why he does this but its Odor so this childish behavior is to be  expected.

I wouldnt worry too much about Odor though, as he posted a league worst (among qualified batters) 61wRC+ last year and will likely be out of the league working at Arby's in a few years.

In other news around the league, here is how the now 2-7 Padres lost to the Astros last night. You will notice a familar face.

OF NOTE: At game time today, it is expected to be 12°C in Arlington, with the temperatures rising as the game goes on. This is significantly warmer than it was last night, with the temperture dropping below 0°C during parts of the game. Hopefully this warmer weather will wake the bats as the Jays will likely need more than 2 hits to win the game and the series. Papa Garcia takes the mound for the Jays today, and he has surprisingly been the Jays most effective starter early in the season. He has only had 1 start, but it was a quality one pitching 6 innings while only allowing 4 hits and 1 run. Look for Garcia to continue to dominate as he faces Odor and his fellow garbage juice producing teammates.

Key Matchup - Handsome vs Handsome

I am sorry to say, but Cole Hamels is beautiful and Luke Maile is only handsome. Although Maile may not win in the looks category, he has a chance to best Hamels on the field. Maile has looked surprisingly good so far this season, and in limited AB in his career against Halmels, he is batting .375 with 3 RBI.
