- Thomas Pannone's second career start didn't go quite as well as his first career start. He was tagged for 7 runs on 9 hits and a walk in 3.1 innings. He was not locating his pitches today and the Orioles made him pay. Pannone deserves a third start and should get it as Marcus Stroman likely won't be ready to return yet.
- Actually, nobody pitched particularly well today. Biagini hit a pair of batters and gave up 2 runs on 3 hits. Newcomer Murphy Smith was tagged for 3 runs on 4 hits (Aledmys Diaz misplaying a foul ball he should have caught did not help). Tim Mayza had the only clean inning of the game. Ryan Tepera did pretty well too, allowing just the one hit.
- Randal Grichuk had a great day at the plate with a 4-5 effort, a pair of RBI and a run scored.
- Kevin Pillar, Justin Smoak and Teoscar Hernandez all had multi-hit games.
- The Blue Jays were 2-5 with runners in scoring positions and strikeouts ended rallies 3 times, including Teoscar Hernandez striking out to end the game. The Blue Jays left 10 runners on base today. By contrast, the Orioles stranded 6 runners.
- Up next, the Blue Jays look to avoid being swept by the Orioles and snap a three game losing streak as they turn to rookie Ryan Borucki, who will be matched up against Orioles righty Alex Cobb.
