My Take:
- Chris Bassitt battled through 6 innings, giving up 4 runs on 4 hits while walking 2 and striking out 6. The bulk of the damage was done in the 2nd inning when the Angels scored 4 times on 3 hits, a hit batter and a walk. Bassitt needed 39 pitches to get through that inning. He did retire the last 10 batters he faced, but he very nearly didn't escape the 2nd inning.
- The bullpen threw 3 shutout innings, allowing just 2 hits while walking none and striking out 5. Erik Swanson, who has turned his season around since being recalled from AAA-ball, retired every batter he faced.
- Offensively, Daulton Varsho (2 runs scored) and Aleandro Kirk (2RBI) got the Blue Jays within striking distance. The future (Joey Loperfido and Addison Barger) finished off the comeback with back to back jacks
- Shohei Ohtani must be so glad he switched LA teams.
- The Blue Jays were 2-10 with runners in scoring position
- Up next, the Blue Jays try to extend the win streak to 3 games overall and 6 straight over the Angels. Bowden Francis starts against Angels righty Carson Fulmer
