After a solid win over the Mets on the back of a huge 7.2 inning effort from father-to-be Chris Bassitt, who left his start to race back to Toronto to witness the birth of his child, the Blue Jays were going for their third straight win and 11th series win of the season. As expected, Bassitt was placed on the paternity leave list and Jay Jackson was recalled to take his place. Jose Berrios got the start with Alejandro Kirk behind the plate.
