With this ongoing situation, I know some members of our community are having a tough time. So I'm going to share some resources each week that I feel can be helpful.
This idea came about when I was watching the video below. I'm a big fan of Martha Beck and posted from her The Joy Diet in the comments a week or so ago. What I forgot to mention then is that besides her PhD in sociology, she also lives with anxiety and has gone through years when she was in such debilitating physical pain she couldn't even move, pain which still sometimes returns when she's under stress.
In these weekly gatherings she shares her strategies for not only surviving life, but thriving. She bases her work in her studies of various cultures and the scientific discoveries of the workings of the mind. A lot of her early coaching work was with drug addicts and in jails. She knows her stuff.
In this video, she talks about how she dealt with her fear and anxiety around the current situation:
From a few weeks ago, she talks about the feelings of loss:
And in this video from a couple of years ago, she talks about how she gets herself out of physical suffering:
Each vid is around 30 minutes. I hope Martha can help you the way she has helped me.
