Let's Predict the Offseason!

With a manager in place and a coaching staff starting to take shape, one of the Jays’ major offseason projects is almost complete. The roster work, however, has barely started, with a couple of no-brainer option decisions (yes to Smoak, no to Solarte) constituting the only real major league moves. With some clear strengths and weaknesses to the roster, management is in a position to have a busy offseason, and I suspect they’ll be extremely active on the trade front.

Jays to Sign Curtis Granderson: Rosenthal

As reported by The Athletic's Ken Rosenthal, the Blue Jays are set to sign outfielder Curtis Granderson to a one-year deal.

Free-agent outfielder Curtis Granderson in agreement with #BlueJays on one-year, $5M contract, sources tell The Athletic. Deal also includes incentives and is pending a physical.

The 37 year-old three-time All-Star split last season between the Mets and the Dodgers, slashing a combined .212/.323/.452 over 147 games, good for a respectable 105 wRC+ and 2.1 fWAR.

So no big Jays signings yesterday. Chi Sox get the Nats prospects anyway by trading Adam Eaton. Royals trade pain in the ass Wade Davis to the Cubs. Yankees get domestic abuser Chapman back. Lots of speculation around what's going to happen with JB and EE.
