After a disastrous road trip, the Blue Jay limped home to start a week long homestand that began tonight against the Red Sox. The Blue Jays won 3 of 4 in Fenway, outsscoring the Red Sox 17-8. Daulton Varsho made his season debut, activated off the 15-day IL and was in CF. Casey Lawrence, who was claimed off waivers from Seattle yesterday, reported to the team. Righty Paxson Schultz and infielder Will Wagner were optioned to AAA-ball. Bowden Francis got the start with Alejandro Kirk behind the plate. Myles Straw was in LF. Ernie Clement was at the hot corner. Could the Blue Jays snap the 2-game skid and start the week and homestand with a win? Here is tonight's game recap.

My Take:
- It's generally not a winning strategy to give up five home runs for 7 runs. That's what happened to Bowden Francis, who labored through three innings where the Red Sox were pounding his pitches.
- Casey Lawrence gave up 3 runs on 6 hits. Something tells me he won't be a Blue Jay for long
- The lone offensive highlight was a Vladdy smash over the center field wall for the Blue Jays only 2 runs
- The Blue Jays were 1-3 with runners in scoring position
- Up next, the Blue Jays try to snap the 3-game skid. The Red Sox will start righty Lucas Giolito. The Blue Jaus have not announced a starter in what is likely a bullpen day.
