Hump Day Gratitude

Talk about what you're grateful for.

I'm grateful for the time Jason Grilli spent with the team. He brought hope, energy, and stability when he came here and even when it was time to leave us, he still believed.

Your Potential 2020 Toronto Blue Jays

Now this post may be controversial, depending on what side of the fence you sit on regarding your 2017 Toronto Blue Jays ballclub, but after Friday's devastating 9th inning collapse to what we can only call Kansas City Royals baseball, there was some debate regarding the potential trades of two of our biggest assets: Josh Donaldson and Roberto Osuna.

THE LATE NIGHT RAMBLER

                                                THE LATE NIGHT RAMBLER

Who hung out all night long?  No I mean with the Jays game...you saw it coming.. I know you did. Do you feel good? I hope so because this team will mess with your head folks. I don't even wan't to talk about .500 ball as that should never be goal in late June.

THE REAL

If Stroman wants to be that guy he better be that guy.

THE WTF?

I still have a young daughter and she comes to me for a lot of questions and I am so thankful that she doesn't ask me that question.

BECAUSE.

Edwin made this team better and I will whine about that forever!

Hey just checking out the show.

In all honesty this team is pretty good, but my biggest fear is they will be just pretty good come July. Be awesome or suck..pick one yo!

Monday Poetry

Thanks to not owning a phone, I took the red eye home from Ottawa Sunday morning and my body is zonked. Express your feelings about another poetry post, or about the new banner my cousin whipped up for me while her husband and I were watching Saturday's game, or about recent games, or about the continued ball-washing of the Yankees'/Judge, or about the upcoming games, in poetic form.

*Note - your poem can be freestyle. It doesn't have to rhyme. Have fun playing with sentence shapes.

Baseball is about to let it's personality show ( this could be fun )

                          Image result for baseball nicknames

Some of you may be unaware that of something new will be happening this year at the old ballpark. According to a memo obtained by yahoo sports, players will be allowed to personalize their uniforms.

"Major League Baseball will relax its uniform rules for a weekend later this season, allowing players to put nicknames on the back of their jerseys, wear fluorescent-colored shoes and personalize a patch paying tribute to someone instrumental in their development"

The event called The Players Weekend, is planned for the August 25-27 weekend and has the blessing of  the MLB and the MLBPA.

"The jerseys from the weekend will be sold by MLB, which will donate the proceeds to the Youth Development Foundation, an initiative on which the league and MLBPA work together."

Who do we think which Blue Jays players might participate by wearing their nickname on their jersey ( in the interest of charity)? And what should they put on the back of those jerseys?

Obvious ones

Bautista-JoeyBats
Osuna-OsunaMatata
Travis- ThickD
Pillar- Superman
Joe Smith-Anonymous

"Each jersey will feature a patch with space for a player to personalize it by “writing the name of an individual or organization that was instrumental to his development,” according to the memo."

What are your suggestions to the players for either their nicknames or what to put on their patches?

Meet the Freeze

You may remember this video going viral:
He's the newest MLB sensation - The Freeze. Now the man has been unmasked and his background is pretty cool.
He has his own twitter account. He's totally bought into this cold theme.

Which begs the question - who would have ever associated cold with Atlanta?

Link Dump June 8th Edition

Image result for link dump

I wish I was smart enough to know what the hell an RSS feed was so I could use one but I ain't, so I peruse the web for stories about the Jays. When I find something interesting. I like to give credit where credit is due, and so MK doesn't get sued. Such is the case with story of the ticket gouging by the Mariners upcoming setto with the Jays. Via Stoeten, in his Daily? Duce, which Links a story from The News Tribune, that says the ticket prices for the Jays series have been dynamically priced over double the price of the previous series against the Twins. Lower bowl for the twinkies-$29-75, for the Jays-$66-175. The Tribune article further links a CBC piece, which says Canadian fans aren't too happy about the ticket gouging. While listening to the Fan590, which I'm not going to link because I'm linked out and my head is spinning ( sorta like the bedspins from my younger years but I digress), it was suggested that the Seattle ball club and their fans were not pleased about their home game becoming a Jays home game. So much so, that it's been alleged that Seattle's front office has been less accommodating to the Sportsnet media types. C'est la vie, you fucking pinheads. I betcha the local economy is just tickled at the thought of less cash in their pocket from their northern neighbours. ( Is this sarcasm font working? )

One of the topics of conversation yesterday was about Grilli and whether it is time to cut bait and bring in somebody else from within the system. In an opinionated post at BBB ( in my opinion), Matt Gross does give food for thought and according to the poll in the same piece, it appears that the majority of voters think that Grilli should be DFA'd.
