no. 27 2017: Blue Jays (9-17) at Yankees (15-9)

 Tuesday 02 May 2017
7:05PM EDT / Yankee Stadium
Mat Latos (RHP 0-0 3.27 5K) v. Masahiro Tanaka (RHP 3-1 4.20 22K)

Estrada pitched a terrific game; Jays' hitters put a li'l extra jam on their toast (a two-run sacrifice fly? c'mon); the fearsome Yankees mustered zero response -- at home, no less; Gibby trolled Wilner on "Jays' Talk". If I die tonight, yesterday alone made 'er all worthwhile.

Also, you know, if I die tonight someone will need to prep. tomorrow's game thread.

Of Note: UTL Ryan Goins is slashing .208/.264/.396 in 53 PA, per Shi Davidi (RSN). Not great, admittedly, but not terrible for Goins, all things considered. Davidi continues:

"...with a hard contact rate of 36.6 per cent, up from 27.5 per cent, and a BABIP of .205, down from a career mark of .273, it’s reasonable to think he’s hit into some bad luck (like on Monday, when three of the four balls he crushed resulted in outs, despite each having a hit probability of at least 57 per cent). His line-drive rate up is to 19.5 per cent from 11.3 per cent last year and his strikeout rate is down to 15.1 per cent from 24.5 per cent. His chase rate of 31.5 per cent over his career is down to 20 per cent."

Eh? Maybe Go-Go is finally all growns up. Like supergroup ASIA said, only time will tell.

Whatever the case, JITHers, we should not allow this information to fall into the hands of Jerry Howarth. It must be taken to Mordor and destroyed in the fires of Mount Doom. Who's with me? Guys? Anyone?!
