no. 19 2017: Blue Jays (5-13) at Angels (8-12)

Monday 24 April 2017
10:07PM EDT / Angel Stadium of Anaheim
Francisco Liriano (LHP 1-1 5.11 17K) v. Jesse Chavez (RHP 1-3 5.00 16K)

Game Four finds the Blue Jays out for their first series win of the year, hard as that might be to believe (answer: it's not). The late finish means St. Louis will almost certainly put the boots to 'em tomorrow night beneath the Gateway Arch but whatever, eh MLB, you crack-addled lunatics?

Of Note: One-time Blue Jay Jesse Chavez -- skipped Sunday after pitching Friday -- gets the nod in place of scheduled starter Ricky Nolasco. Seems "bumping" in Los Angeles isn't just for talk show guests, beach volleyball and whatever filthy thing kids have come up with. SP Aaron Sanchez will throw a bullpen session Tuesday as he claws his way back from that nagging blister / finger nail issue. The Jays top performers to date by fWAR after 3B Josh Donaldson (0.6): CF Kevin Pillar (0.4); 1B Justin Smoak (0.4); OF Ezequiel Carrera (0.3); UTL Ryan Goins (0.2); UTL Darwin Barney (0.2). If someone handed you sand, gravel, a highly concentrated base and a bag of Milk Duds and said bake me a cake you'd stand a better chance than our beleaguered Blue Jays right now; nonetheless, they are (sort of) persisting.
