no. 13 2017: Red Sox (8-5) at Blue Jays (2-10)

Tuesday 18 April 2017
7:07PM EDT / Rogers Centre
Brian Johnson (LHP 0-0 0.00 0K) v. Marcus Stroman (RHP 1-1 1.76 9K)

Returned from Easter weekend, eager to bring good luck to our beleaguered Blue Jays, I instead find myself sick for the first time in three years. Ugh. Could be that the team did this to me, I suppose, what with their awful play of late and parade of regulars to the DL. If it is contagion and the early-season woes continue, surely all of Canada will be infected by Victoria Day. Stock up on cash and provisions, people.

Of Note: Boston call-up Brian Johnson gets his second career start in place of scheduled SP Eduardo Rodriguez (paternity leave). Spot starters and other no-name substitutions always have Toronto's number, seems; anticipate that trend continuing tonight. RP Danny Barnes has been summoned from Buffalo to bolster the Blue Jays' bullpen. One or two additional moves are expected o'er the next couple days to offset the loss of Happ and Sanchez. No word yet on what, if anything, the club intends to do re. Donaldson ("viking funeral" is my guess).
